There's much to see here. So, take your time, look around, and learn all there is to know about this special region. We hope you enjoy your stay and look forward to making some memories with you too. This is wide open country filled with desert, a bi-national river and unique sky island mountain ranges, and it's very remote. Hours of operation change, cell reception/wifi can be shaky, items and ingredients are harder to acquire, service is sometimes slow, so with that said - please treat all our friends and staff at these destinations with lots of patience and care. Take plenty of water, a few snacks, an explorer's attitude, and a full tank of gas wherever you visit.

The national park is about an hour from Marathon or 1.5 hours from Alpine. The Basin in particular is a mile high ecosystem left over from the last ice age. You will climb out of the desert into sky island forests with pinyon and ponderosa pines. There are black bears here too, they're real friendly, just like most of the locals.
Also in the national park, these natural springs border the Rio Grande. They're great for after an early morning hike or to view the stars into the night.
